My Sweeeeeeeet Diet

First of all, when I wrote this title, Kathryn said, "Could you please capitalize the S and the D in the title? I have a system going here." It made me giggle, then cry.

Second, I wanted to tell you about my amazing diet I have been on. Let me give you some background info. I'm what some people would call "skinny," but what I prefer to call "shut the heck up." For many years I have weighed about 145 lbs. No one respects a 145 pounder. Just try ordering one at McDonalds. No one takes it seriously. Whenever I tell someone how much I weigh, all the girls make some sort of comment like, "that must be soooooo hard for you" while rolling their eyes, similar to what you're probably doing right now. The guys, on the other hand, think, "I could totally beat him up." Well look, I'm tired of hearing it. People are constantly complaining about how hard it is to lose weight. Well let me tell you something: it's hard to gain it too. Recently I dropped down to about 142, and I was not happy about it, so I decided to take action. I'm on a fat diet. It really just consists of me trying to eat more and make sure I eat ice cream right before I go to bed. The problem is that I'm pretty active. I work out and ride my bike several times a week to school, which is about 3 miles each way (not much, but it's something). Well, I'm happy to report that my diet is working. I'm up to about 148 now. Once I cross the 150 mark, there will be no stopping me. I want to get to about 155, because then people will respect that and realize that I could probably punch their face in. That's my goal. Fear me. I'm huge.
(Above is my before and after pictures. That's right, I'm turning black.)

Addiction

Since I'm new to blogging I find myself checking my blog multiple times a day. It is too fun. You might call it a slight addiction. I want to change my background every day (which I control) or post something everyday but alas my life is not that exciting. But anyway, I've been wanting to change my background for St. Patty's Day and I can't wait any longer so I gave in. The end.

Ash Wednesday

So today I felt a little sheepish. My boss gets back from lunch and comes into my office. She is talking to me and I notice a big black dot on her forehead. I don't interupt her while she is talking so I patiently wait to let her know about the embarassing mark. While she is talking I'm thinking, how in the world do you get a mark like that on your forehead. So when she is done, I kindly let my boss know that she has a black mark on her head. She chuckles a little and tells me it is for Ash Wednesday. Now I feel a little silly. So I asked a few questions and my boss tells me that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. I think I'd heard it before but didn't remember especially since I don't celebrate it. When I got home I did some google research to find out why they put marks on their head and other interesting things. I can be so ignorant sometimes. It was pretty funny though. Living outside of Utah sure opens up my eyes sometimes.

This is the symbol that goes on people's foreheads but the one on my boss looked more like a big dot.

This is Rachel Kay, age 5.
This is Sara Jane, age 3.
This is Abigail Marie, age 2.

Wassssssssssabi

Hey this is Dave. I wanted to put a post up. Since this is my first one, I thought I would tell a little bit about myself. I was born in Walnut Creek, California, and lived in the Bay Area until I was five, at which point we moved to El Dorado Hills. I was always very short growing up, but big in spirit. And in head. My noggin was huge. It had to be, in order to fit my ginormous brain. After getting a stellar 3.6 GPA in high school, which was only slightly lower than my brother Dan's 4.5, I went to college at BYU. There I just played soccer, worked out, looked at myself in the mirror, ate at Betos, single-handedly financed the dollar theater, and occasionally studied, somehow pulling off a 3.7 GPA. Does this mean that HS is harder than BYU? The facts are before you. I learned Russian on my mission in Ukraine, and am now studying Russian for my Masters program in Monterey in order to eventually become the King of Russia. I found Kathryn at BYU and said, "Hey, why not take a chance?" I got lucky. Vegas, here I come! I think those are the essentials. In the words of a wise philosopher, "Welp, see ya later!"

Pink Cars?

Okay, I don't know what's going on but in the last 2 days I've seen 2 ugly pink cars. I don't like pink cars. I don't care how nice the car is I just don't like the pink. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the color pink, but just not for cars. Does anyone else have issues with pink cars or is it just me?

Sweet Thought

So Dave really doesn't like Chick Flicks. I get mad at him sometimes because he never wants to watch them. When we go to Blockbuster there is always a movie that both of us want to see and then there is a Chick Flick that I want to see. His reasoning is that if there is a movie both of us want to see, there isn't a point in getting anything else, especially when one of us (Dave) wouldn't like it. I agree but I wish he would watch Chick Flicks with me.

So for Valentine's Day he gave me a really great gift. This coupon. You can't see it very clearly but it says, "This coupon is good for one Chick Flick movie of your choice to be watched with David A. Ricks." I love this gift. It is a great idea. I LOVE YOU DAVE!! Thanks for being so sweet. I know this is a great sacrifice for you.

Mmmm...Cookies

Last Thursday, Dave and I made cookies for our friends. I just got 101 cookie cutters for my birthday so we tried out the Valentine's ones. Here is how they turned out.
Here is the cut out of the cookies.
This is how they really look after they are done cooking.

We figured out how to make them look better. You just have to space the cookies farther apart on the cookie sheet. Incredible decorating skills helps too.

I'm Getting the Hang of This

So I think I figured out what I'm doing a little bit. This is kinda fun. Now all I need is friends to actually check the blog out. The end.

Brought To You By The Ricks

I have no idea what I'm doing right now. So I'll see where this message shows up.
