Hair Ball!

Today I decided to straighten my hair. You are probably thinking, okay so what. Well I don't do it very often because it takes so long and I don't like to spend tons of time on my hair every day. It has probably been almost a year since the last time I straightened it. I wanted to show you what I have to work with. I took a before and after shot.

This is how my hair looks after I blow dry it. Yes, that is really my hair. I didn't rat it or put any product in it. It is just big. My white girl afro.

This is after. The cheesy grin is because I'm so glad my hair is done. It took almost an hour and a half.

I like having curly hair but it is nice to have a change every once in awhile. It seems we want what we don't have. Some days I wish I had straight hair, but other times I'm glad I can do my hair in 10 minutes when it is curly. When I hit Utah this week I am going to chop off my hair. WOO HOO!

Easter Sunday

Our Easter wasn't anything incredible. It was good, don't get me wrong, but not anything out of the ordinary. It was just another Sunday. It mostly consisted of good eatins'. We didn't even dye eggs because I couldn't find any mixes this year that didn't include vinegar. I don't like vinegar. Last year we found a pack that only required water. But alas, none this time around. Plus, Dave doesn't like boiled eggs. Anyway, to celebrate Easter, we had scrambled eggs and muffins for breakfast. The rest of the morning was spent getting our lessons together. Dave teaches Elders' Quorum and I teach Nursery. After church, we took naps and then had dinner. YUMMY! I made a roast and we had salad and baked potatoes. That night we just played games. We probably ate some candy thanks to the left overs of the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday(see previous post). We also took some pictures of ourselves in our Easter garb. That's about it. It was a nice Sunday. Here are some pics from the day.

Our exquisite breakfast. I know, it doesn't look like much, but it was mighty fine and tasty.

In our Sunday apparel.

It wouldn't be Easter Sunday without a picture of us flaunting our gang signs.

Loads of Eggs

Today was the annual Easter Egg Hunt for the City of Monterey. The Recreation Department puts it on every year and since I work for the Rec. Dept. I got to work at the Easter Egg Hunt. I was lucky and got to be one of the early birds. I was there at 7:00 a.m. It did go by really fast though because there was lots to do. We set up the stations and then people started showing up. I got to help the Easter Bunny this year. That basically consisted of refilling the candy basket and crowd control. The 4 hours flew by and I didn't have to do any clean up or take down because by the time the Easter Bunny was done, everything else was already done. It was great. Anyway, this year they had a load of Easter eggs left over. Since I teach Nursery at church I thought I would take a few to give to the kids. Well, it ended up being more than a few. I have a couple hundred Easter eggs full of candy just chilling at my house. I grabbed more because I figured I could take them to the Primary as well, otherwise the eggs would probably just sit there for awhile. I don't like to waste candy so the kids at church get it instead. I'm sure their parents will appreciate it. And don't worry, Dave and I snagged a few for ourselves. So anyway, here are a couple pictures of the eggs once I got home. Oh yeah and I got my face painted. I was the first person too. I'm pretty cool. Hope everyone has a lovely Easter!

We're Moving!

So after some comments I realized that Dave and I haven't told many people that we are moving. Well it's true. We are leaving Monterey and moving up to the Sacramento area. El Dorado Hills to be exact. We are going to live with Dave's parents for the summer while we figure out what we are doing with our lives. Dave has a greater chance of getting a job using his Russian up in that area than he does down here. So at the end of May, after Dave graduates, we will be packing up our things and making that long 3 hour move up North. ;) We're excited and it will be nice to live with family because that drive though not really long gets annoying and feels like eternity after you've driven it so many times. Plus we will have free room and board. Who could ask for anything more?

It Smelled Like Summer

This past weekend Dave and I went up to El Dorado Hills to visit the fam. El Dorado Hills weather is very different from Monterey weather. It was absolutely perfect. Warm and no breeze. Monterey stays pretty cool and moderate all year round. Not a lot of variety. I loved the weather this weekend and am really excited to be moving there for the summer. Yes I know it gets blasted hot but I'm still excited. Anyway, Sunday and Monday, it smelled like summer. I can't describe the smell or the feeling but it was just peaceful and calm and perfect. It reminded me of Utah and my grandparents house when we were on vacation. There wasn't a care in the world and I just wanted to sit outside and take it all in. The fan was on in the house making it the perfect temperature and added that calming sound of a beautiful summer day. So anyway, I'm rambling on and this probably doesn't make sense but I love the smell and feeling of summer.

We're Pretty. Awesome.

A little while ago Kathryn made a funny face. It made me laugh. We were just in one of those moods, so I grabbed the camera and we had a great photo shoot. Here's a couple of the little gems that resulted.

Exorcist anyone?

155 lbs. here I come!

I tried copying Kathryn, but it looks more like Ace Ventura than it does like a possessed person. Which is worse?

Then, when Kathryn was doing my photo shoot, she secretly switched the camera over to "video" mode right when I was in the middle of doing my thang. So although this video is slightly embarassing, it makes us laugh. Enjoy.

We're hopeless dorks.
