And The Winner Is.....

Some of you may remember my post last Valentine's Day. Dave gave me a coupon that said, "This coupon is good for one chick-flick movie of you choice to be watched with David A. Ricks." Well this past weekend I used it. I had been thinking about a chick-flick that I wanted to see and there wasn't really anything new out that I was interested in. I was introduced to a great musical by my sis-in-law, Melanie, a few years ago called, "Thoroughly Modern Millie." It's great and I decided I wanted to watch it with Dave. It's good and silly and he would probably get a few laughs out of it. So we went to Blockbuster and guess what? No "Thoroughly Modern Millie" there. I checked in every category too, comedy, drama, and family. I even checked foreign. Nothing, nada, zilch. Oh well. I had a fall back.

The Fall Back. Seeing as the movie only came out on DVD on Saturday and I had only seen it once, I decided it was the winner. I had wanted to watch it with Dave but by the time we were going to watch it again, it was already out of the theaters. So now he got his lucky chance. Now you're probably wondering what movie. Well without further adieu, the winner is TWILIGHT!!!!

Dave said it wasn't bad. I know it wasn't his favorite but he said it could have been worse. So we had a jolly old time watching it together and now I have to wait for another special occasion to hopefully get another coupon. Thanks Dave! You're the best!

Spring

I'm ready for Spring. Warmer weather, the smell of freshly mowed grass, bright colorful flowers, and Easter are just a few of the things I'm looking forward too. The end.

Irish Jigs and Meals

I love St. Patrick's Day. Even though I don't even know all the reasons behind the celebration I still like to show my Irish pride. I have a few songs on our playlist to help you get in the mood. They might not all be Irish but they're good fun so enjoy them for a little bit.

I wore my green today and Dave changed his shirt after I pinched him. He forgot when he was getting ready this morning and I had already left so I couldn't help him. Wives are important. At work a leprechaun had left green fortune cookies for us all and my fortune said, "Kiss Me, I'm Irish."

I like to dye my food green for this wonderful day and was excited to try pasta. I was talking to my sister and we weren't sure if it would work, but I'm happy to report that it did. The spaghetti noodles turned green. They look kinda gross but obviously it still tasted the same. Dave commented, "This is one of those meals you wish you blind for." Getting past the green water was the hard thing for me. I was worried that the water would be sour for some reason but guess what? Just like the spaghetti still tasted like spaghetti, the water still tasted like water. And to top off our meal we had peas which are celebrating St. Patrick's Day au natural. Below are some pictures of the meal. I hope you all enjoyed your St. Patrick's Day because I sure did.

The beginnings of a green meal. Mmmmm......

The finishings of a great meal.

Cereal My Heart

I really like cereal. Especially when it's on sale. Nothing beats waking up to a nice cold bowl of heaven. Or going to sleep after eating a bowl. Or ending your lunch break with a bowl. Or celebrating a wedding with a bowl. Or eating a bowl while someone reads Jack Handy quotes until you start laughing so hard that the milk and cereal come drooling from your mouth back into the bowl, only for you to eat them later. It fits every occasion, and it's oh-so good for you. The sugar isn't, but the fortified goodness sure is. Without cereal, the world would probably implode. At least mine would.
In other news, I've been having really bad luck lately at restaurants. Well, just with restaurant napkins. Last time I went to IHOP, there was a piece of gum stuck in my nicely folded napkin. I don't know who stuck it there, or if perhaps some guy running the napkin making machine started choking on his gum and someone did CPR until he coughed it out. "Nah, they'll never notice" he thought to himself with a stupid expression on his stupid face. Then, this last Friday Kahryn and I went to Denny's, who probably buys their napkins from the same guy. This time it looked like I had a booger on my napkin. It wasn't mine, so I dont' know how it got there. I should mention that the food at both places was fantastic (I obviously like breakfast foods), but I think I'm bringing my own napkin next time. The intelligent person would say, "Hey Dave, stop going to those trashy restaurants." To which I reply, "Hey, stop giving me your trashy opinion." Does Sizzler have the Fabulous French Toast Platter? Can you get a succulent Meatlovers Omelet at Fresh Choice? I would submit that you cannot. Just don't eat the napkins.

Fun With Carrie Ann

Last weekend, Carrie Ann came to visit. My family and I met Carrie when we lived in England. She was in the Air Force and we went to church together. She, along with a couple of other young single adults in the ward, would come over and hang out at our house. It was a lot of fun.

So this past weekend Carrie and her son Nicholas and their friend Dan were in the Monterey area so we got together on Saturday. We met up at the beach and surprisingly it was a nice day. The rest of the week had been rainy. Nicholas loved the beach and Carrie told us it was his first time seeing the ocean. It was entertaining watching him in the water. After that we hung out at their hot tub in the hotel they stayed at. The hotel was just around the corner from where we lived and right on the beach. The perfect spot. We left for a little to run errands but met up with them later for dinner at Gianni's Pizza. Yummy! It was fun to talk and catch up on things and they paid for dinner. Thanks! We had a great weekend!

A Picture Tag and Awesome Link

First, I was tagged to do that 6th folder, 6th picture thing. If you have no idea what I am talking about you are supposed to open up your 6th picture folder and go to your 6th picture and post it for all to see. So here is my picture and I tag whoever wants to do it.

This is a bonfire we had last fall on the beach. It was huge and blazing hot but super fun!

Second, I just found a group on Facebook for Enoch 1st Ward (my home ward back in Utah) and they had the awesomest video I have ever seen. Thanks Kaela for putting it on YouTube. So I thought you would all want to enjoy 5 minutes of entertainment. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPBK5rdZckE. I laughed hysterically especially when I saw my dad dancing (he's the one right after the Nursery). Now I know where I get those mad dance skills. I'm also really impressed that my grandparents got in on the action. I sure am proud to me a Brough and a Grimshaw. Maybe it is more funny to me since I know some of the people but I think everyone can appreciate a good show. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Today is the birthday of Dr. Seuss. He is no longer alive but his books live on! So here's to you Dr. Seuss. Dave and I wrote a special verse just for you.

Dr. Seuss is really great!
Dr. Seuss I'd like to date.
But too bad you passed away.
But your rhymes still rock today.
Yah for great books! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
